A Bridge of Hope for Adult Learning
Founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Notre Dame Education Center-Lawrence (NDEC-L) is an inclusive community of learning where diverse, underserved adults enrich their lives through education and gain the tools necessary for enhanced professional opportunity and community engagement. NDEC-L provides English language and citizenship classes, skills training and leadership development – tuition free or low-cost – in a learning environment that is welcoming, respectful and dignified.

Our Programs
Knowledge for Every Level
NDEC Lawrence's programs cover a range of educational opportunities for those looking to advance their proficiency in English and prepare for work, citizenship, and life in Massachusetts and in the United States. Over the years, we have helped adult students of all ages boost their education and surpass their academic goals.
English Classes (ESOL)
This FREE program includes face-to-face and virtual classes for adults who speak other languages. The classes are designed so that students develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in English while also learning about critical topics such as health, nutrition, finances, civics, and employment.
Nursing Assistant Training
In this comprehensive high-quality training program, we prepare compassionate caregivers for employment as nursing assistants and to pass the state certification exam. Our curriculum also includes certifications in Home Health Aide, Basic Life Support, and Dementia (8-hours). Our program is subsidized by grants, local foundations, and private donations, so that the cost to students remains relatively low.
